Roughbreck is situated in the heart of North Nottinghamshire, within the tranquil surroundings of the Welbeck Estate and within walking distance of Clumber Park.
The site has been leased to Girlguiding Nottinghamshire since 1962. It is surrounded by local flora and fauna, wildlife and trees, giving security and lots of opportunities for wide games, fun and excitement. The site is an ideal base for those completing the D of E Programme.
Roughbreck is a fully equipped campsite for 36 campers, providing a selection of tents. You are welcome to bring your own tents if preferred. It's perfect for events such as: evening and day events, awards, presentations, training, sport themed events and games, a night under the stars, shelter building, overnight, weekend and week stays.

Camping equipment is available including traditional canvas patrol tents and cooking on altar fires. There is also equipment for multi-sports, a net for badminton and volleyball and indoor games including a pool table and table tennis. The site is ideal for teaching traditional camping and bushcraft skills.
What else can you do during your stay?
There are swimming pools located in both Worksop and Edwinstowe. Worksop also has the Canch Play Park which hosts a splash pool and multi-sports area and a multi-screen cinema.
The famous Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood Visitors’ Centre is nearby and Rufford Park and Sherwood Pines are within easy reach.
The National Trust property, Clumber Park and the local Carburton Tea Rooms are within walking distance of Roughbreck.
There is no public phone at Roughbreck, a mobile phone is essential but reception can be limited in areas.
A selection of pocket money gifts, guiding badges and souvenirs can be purchased at the site.
Car/mini bus parking is available in the designated car parking area. Large supermarkets are available in Worksop and Ollerton and online deliveries can be made to the site.
Our Facilities at Roughbreck
Welbeck Hut is ideal for indoor activities and is equipped with flatpack tables and chairs which can be used for meal times during wet weather and in emergencies it can be used to sleep in.
Clumber Hut has a storage area at the front containing camping and outdoor equipment. At the back it houses 4 washrooms and Elsan toilets are available. There are also 2 flushing toilets, with handwashing facilities.
The kitchen and cooking facilities at Roughbreck
There is a separate kitchen building where the kitchen equipment is stored and this can also be used for food storage and preparation.
The kitchen includes two gas cookers with 4 burners, grill and oven. There is also a small gas fridge. Spare gas bottles are stored in a purpose built cage near to the wardens hut.
The site also has 2 altar fires with covered wood stores, and equipment to build patrol fires. A barbecue and pizza oven are also available. The campfire circle is situated behind Welbeck Hut.
