Brownie leaders from Stapleford will be cheered on by their 25 Brownies as they prepare for a night walk to raise money for Treetops Hospice Care.
Catherine Collins, Kylie Brennan and Emma Middleton – otherwise known as Brown Owl, Tawny Owl and Snowy Owl – are joining hundreds of other women taking part in the ‘Starlight Strut’ on Friday 19 May. The 5k and 10k sponsored walk starts at 10pm at the University of Derby and is just one of many ways in which 3rd Stapleford Brownies and their leaders have pledged to support Treetops, which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults, their families and carers across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
3rd Stapleford Brownies meet on Thursday evenings at the Scout Hut on Pinfold Lane in Stapleford and their theme this year is helping others in the local community. ‘Some of our girls’ families have personal links with the hospice and we know it’s a really worthwhile cause,’ explains Brown Owl Catherine Collins (49). ‘When the unit decided to support Treetops, we pledged as leaders that whatever we asked the girls to do, we would do as well, so signing up to the Starlight Strut made complete sense. We’re looking forward to making the girls proud!’
