The final of Nottinghamshire County Council’s 2016 Outstanding Achievement 4Uth Awards took place on 28 October and Girlguiding Nottinghamshire’s County Commissioner Jackie Brocklehurst was honoured to join the panel tasked with selecting the winner.
Made annually, the awards are a celebration of excellence and achievement among young people across Notts. This includes those who have triumphed over adversity, those who care for people around them and those who are working hard to make a difference within their community. Nominees are identified by peers, youth leaders, teachers and family members as a special source of inspiration.
After much deliberation, Calverton’s Cameron-Lei Ford (15) was named as the countywide winner from the seven finalists: the teenager has transformed his life and overcome several personal issues in the process.
