Girlguiding takes its responsibilities for its members very seriously and expects all leaders to be trained in Health and Safety and First Aid. A minimum requirement is that at least one guider in every unit must have an up to date 1st Response qualification.
First Response training covers the minimum first aid skills and duty of care needed to manage a unit in Guiding. By undertaking 1st Response training adult members help create a safe environment for girls and young women in guiding.
The Health and First Aid Scheme is applicable for adults (they do not need to be Guiders but must be over the age of 18) who wish to provide this support to guiders who are taking girls away on residential events.
Both First Response and Health & First Aid qualifications must be renewed every three years. Joint training sessions are organised for the renewal of these two qualifications.

Healthcare plans are available for members with medical conditions such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and personal care.
