The courage of Eleanor Drummond (11) and her sister Evelyn (9) has been recognised by the presentation of Girlguiding’s Celtic Cross, a special award to mark exceptional resilience in the face of adversity. The girls are members of 101st Kingswood Brownies & Guides and the presentation was made by Girlguiding Nottinghamshire’s County Commissioner Jackie Brocklehurst after the Guide unit’s meeting in Wollaton last week.
The girls were nominated for the award by Hemlock Castle Division Commissioner Emily Hogan. ‘Evelyn and Eleanor are always kind and caring, are the first to help others and have never complained, even to those of us around them who are aware of their recent personal tragedy. They truly are a credit to their family and to Girlguiding.’
‘The girls have been through a tough time, and yet have always kept a smile on their faces,’ agreed County Commissioner Jackie Brocklehurst. ‘Their courage and positive attitude is a lesson to us all.’
