Going Away with Scheme Workshop

Working on the Going Away With scheme is lots of fun and will open up a world of opportunities for you and your unit. During this workshop you will work alongside other leaders to gain all the information you need to run your first residential. And the outdoor team will help you every step of the way.

All camps, holidays and sleepovers, wherever they take place (at one of our properties or another approved venue) must have an event coordinator who holds the appropriate residential licence or is undergoing assessment while running the event.

You will need a copy of the Going Away With scheme book and a copy of the Going Away with Girlguiding book would be useful, available from the Girlguiding Nottinghamshire county shop. These can be claimed back from your unit funds.

Rainbows Overnight Taster Event

The Hanson House committee and friends would like to offer an overnight experience for Rainbow leaders without a licence to bring a few girls and experience the fun and excitement of an event first hand.

We will run two events on consecutive nights, Friday 1st March 2019- Sat 2nd, and Sat 2nd March - Sun 3rd. The times will be roughly 6pm - 12 noon both days, but will be confirmed. We would like to offer the opportunity to 4 units per night, bringing 1 leader and 4 girls each. Whilst we know this is only a small number, it will then allow us to offer this to 8 units over the two nights.

The event will be run by Rainbow leaders with decades of experience running residentials between them, and a full list of the leaders attending will be provided before the event. We will organise all the admin & forms, and plan the weekend based on the new Hanson House Duck Challenge. The cost will be £70 per unit (£15 per girl & £10 per leader) and will include the fees, food, activity items and a challenge badge. During the event there will also be the opportunity for leaders to discuss for Going Away With Licence and what it involves.

If you are interested in this event and have any further questions or queries, please email Hanson@girlguidingnottinghamshire.org.uk
