Guiding Leaders and volunteers from around the county were joined by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Jackie Morris, and representatives of local organisations and charities at a special event held to mark the stepping down of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire’s County Commissioner Kate Royse after a busy five years in the post.
Held in Nottingham’s Albert Hall on Thursday 28 April, Kate’s ‘Finale Event’ was staged by Girlguiding Nottinghamshire’s County Team. Entertainment was provided by a choir of Guides and Leaders, and the evening closed with the presentation of bouquets to Kate and Assistant Commissioners Joanne Bardgett and Claire Sharman, whose term of office has also come to an end.
Flowers were also presented to special guest Julie Bentley, Chief Executive of Girlguiding UK, who had travelled from national headquarters in London to speak at the event. She paid tribute to the energy and success of Kate and her team in recruiting new adult volunteers across Notts, and in enabling more girls than ever before to join Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Senior Section units in their local areas.
